What Is Frozen Shoulder?
Frozen shoulder, or adhesive capsulitis, typically causes increasing shoulder pain followed by marked restriction of movement. It often develops gradually and can affect sleep, dressing, reaching and other everyday activities. The condition may last many months and is more common in people with diabetes or after a period of shoulder immobility.
Assessment is important because rotator-cuff problems, arthritis and referred pain from the neck can produce similar symptoms. Conservative care may include education about the expected course, advice on activity, carefully graded mobility work and gentle hands-on treatment to support comfort and function. Shockwave may be discussed only where the individual diagnosis and evidence make it appropriate; it is not suitable for every shoulder presentation.
Treatment cannot promise to shorten every case. If there is significant weakness, trauma, unexplained swelling, systemic illness or an uncertain diagnosis, we will recommend medical assessment or imaging where indicated.
